My Christmas Tree Advent Calendar.
The tree itself and the base are cut from medium weight chipboard I got at Walmart. The drawers were cut using a file from the Silhouette Online store (one drawer box) that I re-sized so I could fit 25 boxes on the page. Each box has a piece of chipboard behind the front panel to add stability for the pull which is a jingle bell attached with a wire. I am really happy with the way this turned out.
Very clever! I like it
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed. You are quite clever.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic project. I am totally impressed. How long did this take you to make. You could sell these at a craft fair if you have one in you area.
ReplyDeleteFunny you should mention craft fair. That is what I made it for. I have NO idea what to charge for it though. It took days to make. I cut the tree template with my Silhouette Cameo then traced it onto medium weight chipboard and then cut that with my craft knife. Then I cut two coordinating green Christmas card stock pieces to cover the tree on the front and back. Then cut a base piece out of the medium weight chipboard and painted it green. Each of the 25 boxes have an outside casing that had to be cut, folded and glued. Then each drawer had to be cut, a chipboard reinforcement for the front inside of the drawer had to be cut and glued into place. Then each drawer had to be folded, glued, font card stock added and then holes punched to attach the wire with the bell.
DeleteSo, how much do you suggest I charge? I don't want to charge too much and not sell it but I did put a lot of work into it.
Lisa, this is great!!! May I ask how large the over all size of the tree is? And next, how large or small, ggg, is those boxes? I am in love with your project, I just would love to know the sizes. It really looks large in the pics, but then you said you got 25 boxes on a page, so I a little visually challenged with the over al size. Would love to try something like this. About what to charge, I always heard the rule of thumb was to figure how much supplies cost and mutliply that by 3 or 3.5 and that would get in the ball park of what to charge. Unfortunately, most of the time spent in creating has to be chalked up to the love of the craft. We will never be able to recoup the time.
ReplyDeleteThe tree is 12x12 and the boxes are approximately 1.5" square.
