If you are interested in the process, you can watch the very bad video here process video (I apologize in advance but I am terrible at videos)

Basically, I cut circles out of the scarves, layered them, added a button to the top, flipped the stack over and wrapped a rubber band around the button. Added a piece of floral wire because I don't trust the Dollar Tree rubber bands.

Used a Dollar Tree pet brush to fray the edges of the flower to shabby them up.

Added a floral center and called it done.

I think I will add some tulle or lace to the next ones to just elevate the finished product.

scraptisthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02923571660803785170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7925591742690555551.post-86109357596303368372021-02-11T14:03:00.001-08:002021-02-11T14:03:12.215-08:00Easter embellishments and a scalloped heart rosette. I made a crepe paper rosette then cut an egg out of card stock to use as a template to trim the rosette into an egg. Then I cut tulle to cover the egg. Cut a bunny with my Silhouette Cameo (several layers). Popped the bunny up on dimensional adhesive. Then I added a bow and a pompom tail.

The bunny bows was cut out of a few files put together and altered to my liking.

The heart rosette is a cut file I created because I saw a die that I liked but it was a bit more than I wanted to spend so I created my own. I was having trouble with it and reached out to Dreaming Tree they got back to me with a video on their channel about adding to a path. It was using another program but it gave me enough information to go back to Silhouette and finally got it to work.

I have started many times but have yet to finish completely. I've torn it all out of the room and piled it in my living-room to sort and gotten so tired of the mess in my living-room that it gets boxed up and piled in the craft room again.

With that being said, I have a new plan. If you are reading this, I apologize because this is more of a brain dump for me than anything. I just need to get my plan down somewhere that I won't lose it so I can refer back to it if needed and also as a reminder of when I started so I can track how long it takes.

So, my first order of business is paper! My paper and card stock has literally overtaken my craft room to the point that I have no idea what I have and what I don't have. The plan with paper is to first gather it all into one space where I can sort it. I have a container full of scraptastic kits from when they did scrapbooking kits. My plan is to have them visible when I am sorting so that if I find any paper that would coordinate with that kit, I can just add it to the kit (or what I will call, 'kit-plus'). I have larger zip bags to then put the original kit in its original bag into the new bag and then add any paper, embellishments, etc that I think go with that kit. Further, I will have categories for the remainder of the paper.
I have several storage bags that I got from Hobby Lobby that are similar to a cropper hopper bag that I plan on putting the paper in. They are not large so I may have to have 2 for a category if I can't pare it down enough to fit into one bag. My plan was to totally purge purge purge but we all know that is hard to do with our pretty paper.

Step 2 is getting 6 boxes or containers to sort the rest of the stuff into.
2. consumables (anything that is a one & done like stickers, rub-ons, paper pieced things, chipboard pieces and other ephemera)
3. replenishables (anything that I will refill, replace etc. such as ink, embossing powders, paint, etc.
4. 3d projects (all the stuff I have held onto or purchased to do Dollar Tree DIYs and other off the page projects like picture frames, paper towel rolls, etc.)
5. Flowers
6. Misc. (anything that doesn't fit into one of the other categories).

Now, if my misc box gets too full and I find that I have a lot of things that I can create another category with, I'll get another box.

Once everything is sorted. I will take one box at a time and find a home for the item. If I don't have a home I will make a home and if I can't find or make a home, then it has to go in the purge box. I will try with all my heart and soul to purge as much during this process as I can.

Once all boxes are empty and everything is in order and I have gotten my purge box done and donated. I will post before and after photos.

I have an 8'x10' room that has enough stuff to fill a 20'x20' craft room and still be overflowing.

Finally, after everything is orderly, I plan on doing binders.

1. Metal dies
2. Stamps
3. Embossing folders
4. Ink/embossing powder/paint/mists/etc samples
5. Anything I am not thinking of at the moment.

These binders will have a sample (die cut piece, stamped image, embossed piece, swatches of inks end such) with a # with it. This number will also be on the location of the item. So, my die storage is bags that have magnet sheets in them. Each bag may have 2 or more dies in them but the magnet that they are on or the bag they are in will have a coordinating number to the item in the binder. I will also cut the diecuts out and put that on the back of the magnet that is attached to a piece of card stock so if that gets separated I can easily figure out where something goes. I'm not going to worry about organizing the actual dies by category, just by number. The binders I may organize by category so when I am scrapping I can find what I need easier but I can just add another bag and number to my storage and slap it in. This way, #6 for example, if it were a pine tree, I could die cut that tree several times and add it to the binder under category outdoors and to category Christmas. Same as a cake can be birthday, food, wedding, etc. Same with the embossing folders as they are all in one basket but if they were sampled in a binder and numbered I think I would use them more.

The stamps are a daunting task because I have wood mounted, and clear stamps. They are currently stored in multiple areas. The wood mounted are in bins in my bookshelf, I have one container of just Maymaymadeit stamp sets, a container of stamp and die sets, and a container of just random clear stamps. They all need to be in one area. They can still be organized similarly but just all located in the same area. The only exception is that I want a to:from: stamp and a handmade by stamp in a storage area on my desk.

That brings me to my new idea of making Jenofeve Crafty Workstations. I need one for under my Silhouette Cameo that will hold my extra blades, scrapers, pick tools, sketch pens, pen holders, etc. Basically anything I would use when using my Cameo. I will need a crafty companion for my stamp tools such as a couple of stamp blocks, my bottle of stamp cleaner, in the racks on top I can house my stamp positioners (tim holtz, a homemade one, the one from fiskars with the foam feet, etc), shammy cloths, my go to ink cubes in the metal container, my dobbers in an acrylic container and basically anything I would use when stamping (other than my drawer of other inks and refills). I will also make the ink tray from the crafty companion. I need another crafty companion for other much used tools and and supplies such as , on the top tray jars for holding scissors, exacto, rulers, pokey tools, my die cleaner roller thing, a rack on top to hold rolls of double sided tape, glue, etc. I think that will be all the crafty companions I will need but if not, I can always make more. ; )

Then a good vacuum and dusting of the room. I also have a couple of pegboards to add to the room.

I have a few storage areas to revamp as well. I have a shelf very high that will be where I house large flowers for diys and a box for Christmas crafts and extra supplies to replace used stuff like extra bottles of Art Glitter Glue, extra tape runners, extra ATG rolls, etc.

I have a storage/book shelf that I have been using but it actually belongs to my daughter. My father made if for her when she was 8 and was an avid reader. She is now married with a little boy and she wants to start his book collection so she is taking it. I plan on getting a new shelf system for that area. I think the Walmart metal garage shelf would be perfect for the space. This is where I will house all my paper/card stock, stamps, stencils, etc.

I have a metal storage cabinet that currently houses office supply type things, a few scrapbooks, binder combs, a box of memorabilia to scrap and other random things. I need to purge a lot of that stuff and reorganize and utilize that cabinet better.

I have a closet where i have my sewing machine (not a good place for it), wrapping paper, a metal rack with felt, and a box of drawers that house tiny flowers, clothes pins, metal findings, etc. The closet is a MESS and needs to be organized.

Wow, I have my work cut out for me. Hopefully I can come back from time to time and do an update. Basically to keep me accountable. But, when I am finished I hope to have a space that I can actually use and love again.

Wish me Luck!!!
I saw a video by Simon Hurley from Inklipse card making life hacks and one of the hacks was making a magnetic metal die holder for your desk using an 8x10 frame and a magnetic vent cover from a hardware store.

I love love love how mine turned out and it is a life saver when using dies on a project.
I got a PDF from http://frommycraftroom.blogspot.com/2015/03/perpetual-calendar-blocks-tutorial.html. (You should check out her blog. Very very talented crafter.)

I transferred the PDF into my Silhouette Cameo software and changed the top shape a bit and did a bit of tweaking. I made one for my office and this s the one I made for my Church's advent feast for a door prize. I had not gotten the months on the blocks when I took this picture but they are on now.

The praising people stamps, the Praise the Lord stamp and the Amen on the bottom are from "Praise the Lord' stamp set from maymaymadeit.
I was a very small child when my grandfather died (I think almost 3) so I never knew him. I was born and raised in Illinois and my grandmother lived in Arkansas. So I only got to see her once a year on vacation. I one thing I remember most about her was her LONG white hair that she would let me brush and that she chewed tobacco. I never had a good picture of them before and have asked my cousins that grew up in Arkansas with her to share one. I have tried for years to get a good photo of them and then the other day one of my cousin's finally posted a photo of them on Facebook. I have no idea when this photo was taken or why they were dressed up. I printed the photo at Wal-Mart and when I got there to pick it up I went straight to the scrapbook paper (although I have more paper than Wal-Mart has) and looked for paper to match the photo. I thought this <span style="color: #222222; font-family: myriad-pro, BogleWeb, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; letter-spacing: -0.5px;">Colorbok 12" Designer Wild and Free Paper Pad worked well to match grandma's jacket, the sky and grandpa's suit.

I used a Fiskars diamond border punch on the top & bottom of the teal strip of grid paper and fussy cut flowers from another sheet in the pack. I had the Studio Calici chipboard cameras in my stash and put one of each color in each of the 3 embellishment spots and added a different color lens to each. Then I put another color dot on each so that I had the grey, yellow and blue in each. I matted the photo in a yellow patterned paper in the paper pack and I had some Thickers in my stash <span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Museo Slab 500", sans-serif; letter-spacing: 0.25px; text-transform: uppercase;">AMERICAN CRAFTS THICKERS: IMPRINT | CREAM & GOLD FOILED CHIPBOARD.
. I absolutely love the way this turned out and so glad I have a nice photo of my paternal grandparents...finally.scraptisthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02923571660803785170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7925591742690555551.post-56326682960325991722017-09-16T16:10:00.001-07:002017-09-16T16:11:17.622-07:00Fall door hanger
Everything is from Dollar Tree except the scarecrow which is from Wal-Mart.

I love the cupcake liner rosettes because they are much lower profile than traditional rosettes. I still love traditional rosettes but I do love the cupcake liner ones.
I used a 5x7 black & whiter photo, 2 6x6 pads (Woven paper from Fabrique pressed petals and Basic Grey 'Hey You'). The sketch I found by googling 5x7 sketch and found this sketch by Brenda Ragsdale found on her blog for the February 2012 challenge. I added tags for journalling and a couple of roses I made from my "pantry" (stash) and 'seasoned' it with gems and garnished it with a title. The bow at the top is from Fancy Pants Happy go lucky Button set.scraptisthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02923571660803785170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7925591742690555551.post-90129775935801843742016-09-03T20:33:00.001-07:002016-09-03T20:55:22.954-07:00Silly Little Shadow

I watched a video by Crafty Meggy and fell in love with the fringe background and decided to scraplift this for the pictures of my granddaughter finding her shadow for the first time. I had a tag in my stash (no idea where it came from) that said Silly Little Sunshine but I tucked the word sunshine behind the photo mat and adding pink thickers called Sprinkles that say shadow so the title becomes Silly Little Shadow. I added a tulle flower I made, three doilies on the right and added little blue punched doilies on top with pink buttons with pink & white bakers twine. The paper in the background is from my stash but not sure what brand (I think Color Bok from Walmart but not for sure). Three bottom fringe papers – My Mind’s Eye Lost & Found
Blush 6x6 patterned paper pack. Butterfly patterned paper – The Paper Studio – Poteeka Butterfly
Item #196410. I fringed with Martha Stewart Fringe scissors. I put two lines of sewing above each fringed area and around the photo block. Added a tag that simply stated that Hallie Jo found her shadow and the date. Finally I added a bunch of sequins.

I got a bunch of new dies today. I ordered them from China off of Ebay. They were all under $2.00 each. I am currently obsessed with this rose die. I backed the red on red with red crape paper, the white on pink is on pink crape paper, the red is on yellow crape paper, the red is on pink checked pattern paper, the yellow is on green felt (I did not do a good job trimming that one). Then there is one that is not backed on anything. I really like the look of them backed on the crape paper, patterned paper and felt.

First layout of my daughter's wedding. Since scanning the layout I have added wink of Stella to the bouquet and the veil on the bride print & cut and have added the dot to the i in lived (missed that when attaching the letters). I intend on adding some gold Stickles to a few of the gold inked dots. I used a cut file I purchased from Just Nick Studio called confetti and Ink R Up gold ink. I did the cut file as a stencil and used it on the top and the bottom and inked in the gold ink. When I looked at the pictures I immediately had a vision of a bride with a long train and the tile on the train. However, I could not find a cut file nor an image that I liked so I found this bride and added the train. I couldn't find a matching image for the groom since he is army. I did find a prince & princess color book page so I cut the bride out and used the groom (who is actually a prince but I used him as an army guy in uniform...close enough). In hindsight I should have mirrored the image of the prince so he would be looking down toward the bride. I may re-cut him and do just that.

I didn't do any journalling because this will be in their wedding album and there will be a lot of journalling about stories that go with the wedding. This was just the "kiss" photo and there really isn't much to say.scraptisthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02923571660803785170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7925591742690555551.post-67128207681067737642016-08-02T20:08:00.000-07:002016-08-03T06:33:44.449-07:00Coney Island Beach Vacation

This is a layout for Mercy Tiara's 27-Day Challenge for August to use homemade embellishments. I have had these embellishments in my stash for years. I made the altered CD for a swap at Yahoo Groups scrap-a-holic Anonymous group for an August Beach time swap. The label did not have the year. I made the Beach Vacation for an April title swap in the same group. Again, no year on the label. I made the clouds as I was doing the layout. I had to put the whale on the photo of me on the beach looking like a beached whale. I made the waves out of some wave paper I had in my stash and the sand was a 6x6 piece of paper that I cut into 2" strips and joined in the middle. I added Coney Island in tile letter stickers above beach and a border sticker of sand, shells and grass at the bottom. The background is a sheet of pale blue card stock from my stash.scraptisthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02923571660803785170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7925591742690555551.post-61409002721294927602016-07-10T14:49:00.001-07:002016-07-10T14:49:30.482-07:00Pigeon Forge Thanksgiving

Have you ever been siting in your craft room and just "NEED" to scrapbook? I mean, you have to put stuff on a layout and create or you will go insane? Well, that was me yesterday. I was working on stuff for my theatre and just got the overwhelming urge to scrapbook. So, I searched through my pictures and found a bunch from a trip we took Thanksgiving of 2006 to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. We actually went to Knoxville to have Thanksgiving with my sister, her son & daughter-in-law and they took us to Pigeon Forge. What a cute little tourist village! They had the quaintest shops (candy, clothing, gifts, etc) and food and entertainment. Very nice little side trip. My daughter (who as 10 at the time) had fun. I'm sure she doesn't remember much other than the candy store and the Christmas store but I remember she had fun. She bought her ballet teacher a ballet ornament for her Christmas tree and couldn't wait to get it home to her.

I have an easy time hording Scraptastic Kits but not so easy of a time using them because if I use them, I won't have them. However, I really enjoyed using this kit. It was the February 2016 Sunday Morning kit. The background was an exclusive Scraptastic paper Food/Family/Story - Fools Rush In paper. I did hate using it cause the other side was this AMAZING heart design but oh well, it is done now. The layering paper behind the photos is a paper from the kit Crate Paper HELLO LOVELY - With You. Lovely pink with white hearts. Most everything else was from the kit. I think the "This was" and "the best" were an extra purchase from the This Life Noted kit from that month but I'm not sure.

I made the fringe butterfly and added it to the kit since it went so well. I had actually forgotten about making it until I opened the kit. The polka dot bag contained the embellishments from the kit. The bags are so cute I love using them on layouts. The doilies were from my stash. The title "Family" is Thickers YOU & ME and the word "Vacation" was Thickers SPRINKLES. I did my journalling on a black chalkboard label with a white jelly roll pen.scraptisthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02923571660803785170noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7925591742690555551.post-48169434180719909242016-07-03T21:33:00.001-07:002016-07-03T21:41:38.731-07:00He is Risen 12x12 layoutThis layout is for the MercyTiara 27 day challenge for July. The theme of the challenge is to scrapbook your favorite holiday and why is it your favorite.

Everything was cut on my Silhouette Cameo and I wrote the journalling ion a white Jelly roll pen. The doves are on pop dots. The journalling tells how even though we celebrate Christ's birth at Christmas, the real story of Jesus is in the fact that he was willing to die for my sins. Then I quoted John 3:16.
